Louisa specialises in clean energy financing and M&A and heads Lux Nova’s financing practice. She has over two decades’ experience across a wide range of low carbon, renewable and environmental infrastructure projects globally, many of which were breakthrough deals of their day.
Louisa has been recognised as a leading lawyer in the renewables sector by Legal 500 since 2015 and by Chambers and Partners since 2017.
Louisa is currently an appointed member of the REA Finance Forum Steering Group.
For two consecutive years (2018 and 2019), Louisa contributed as a guest lecturer at Oxford University’s “Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment”, on the post-graduate programme focussed on financing renewable energy.

EESL EnergyPro Assets: Advised the joint venture between India’s Energy Efficiency Services Limited and EnergyPro Asset Management on the cross-border acquisition of Edina Power Services Limited. We advised on all aspects of this transaction, including its joint venture arrangements, the acquisition documentation with the sellers, the legal due diligence into Edina, the related leveraged acquisition financing, and managing all legal input across the six jurisdictions touched by this transaction.
Tafila Wind Farm (117MW), Jordan – finance lead for consortium comprising EPGE, InfraMed and Masdar, advising on full suite of financing and security documents and equity contribution in a finance structure involving multiple IFI’s/DFI’s (led by IFC) and a commercial lender.
Shamsuna Power Company (10MW), Jordan – finance lead for consortium including Foursan Fund, developed with IFC a streamlined suite of finance and security documents as part of its solar programme for Jordan (nominated for several awards).
Norfolk Waste - advising a joint venture company on the development of a semi-merchant waste-to-energy CHP plant (22MW power production) in the UK, including heat off-take arrangements.
Sandford Hydro – advising Charity Bank on project finance to the Low Carbon Hub community hydro project;
Large Scale Community Solar Parks - advising Mongoose Energy in relation to its acquisition and financing of a 15MW portfolio comprising three solar parks all co-located with utility scale battery and storage systems.
Advising Leapfrog Bridge Financing Limited on all aspects of financing the development and construction of the 4.1MW Ernesettle solar project in Plymouth, and its subsequent refinancing.
Leapfrog Bridge Financing Limited acquisition financing of the operational 10MW Wick Farm solar project developed by Gamma Energy, including grid sharing arrangements, and then advised the funder on its refinancing of the original transaction, with Triodos coming in as senior lender and Leapfrog’s debt being converted into a mezzanine tranche.
Leapfrog Bridge Financing Limited acquisition financing of 2 x 5MW solar parks developed by Pfalzsolar, including grid sharing arrangements;
Community-Owned Renewable Energy Partners (CORE) – advised on the fund’s first investment in December 2017, the purchase of the Newton Downs solar farm (5MW) from Good Energy. Lead on the due diligence, acquisition and related financing and security arrangements, and the subsequent transitioning of the project into community ownership.
Ferneylea 1 Wind Farm – advising Renewable Power Exchange on the disposal of a Scottish wind farm.
DBE Energy (part of Bio Group Limited) – advising on the debt and equity financing of the development of a 25,000t/pa AD plant in Surrey, with gas produced from the process being pumped back into the national grid.
Solstice – advising the developer of a pipeline of utility-scale solar farms, including the first scheme with a commercial:community split grid connection, with the commercial site and the community site now under operation and developed through Mongoose Energy.
ESCO NRG - advising this long-standing client on a portfolio of c.100MW of solar farms in the UK, including closing three shovel-ready sales in 2015.
